Great to hear about this - fantastic start
In your core group try and do the following:- Everyone spread the word to their friends via e mail and SMS, encourage them to come to the location on Saturdays/ Sundays before the event so that they are familiar with the place and know a couple of people who are likely to be there for the event.
- Put up circulars at the apartment blocks etc around the area.
- See whatever way you can get low cost publicity - put out Fliers - even at cars parked around gardens and parks close to the area where walkers are then likely to see them.
- Hand out the same to walkers at each of these parks.
- Build up the enthusiasm and see if you can get a local school also involved in participating - that can build up enthusiasm significantly
Most importantly - never feel discouraged and keep at it
I am dead sure you folks will have a resounding participation

Great advice from Rahul!
I am surprised to find that Blogger.com allows me to modify this post; thought only the author of the post can modify it.
I have changed the format of Rahul's post.
Also, I have included your email ID in the comments' recipients section - hence you are receiving this email :-)
I had thought about involving a school earlier, but had not followed up seriously on that. I guess since it is Summer holidays, it will be difficult to have Schools involved directly.
Nevertheless, the contact with Harish - who is conducting a Summer Camp for kids in JP Park - is on the same lines; have to follow up on this thread!
Having the Fliers ready and distributing them through the various means mentioned in this post should be an easy thing to do.
